Have a seat at the bar and you’ll quickly want to try whatever concoction the bartender is working on. Fine cachaças are mixed with fresh Brazilian fruits like maracuja (passion fruit) or carambola (star fruit.) If you browse the menu, any item in the pesticos (small plates) section will put you in the mood to spend a few hours at Barão da Itararé.
The restopub is a bit of an oasis on the frenetic block of gay nightspots. Barão da Itararé caters to a mature crowd with outdoor tables, indoor seating, and a sophisticated front bar. On certain nights, they host live acoustic performances. The crowd is very mixed and the dinner crowd can be mostly straight.
