Editor’s Choice: Best Café

São Paulo, Brazil

Years ago, this guide to gay São Paulo would have highly recommended Vanilla Caffe, a lovely coffee place on Rua Antônio Carlos. Today, that magical location is home to Urbe Café Bar, a bigger and better gay-friendly spot.
Unlike Vanilla, which was part of an existing Brazilian chain, Urbe has a funkier, more eclectic vibe. They embrace coffee culture and have developed a loyal following who may keep you waiting for a table.
For gays guys, Urbe is in the heart of queer Consolação. Upstairs and outdoor seating offer multiple options for either a first date or a romantic night out with your namorado.
Urbe is not only a cafe, it’s a bar. They serve good cocktails, but their coffee is the star of the show.
One last tip: Keep the good times going after you pay the bill at Urbe and cross the street to check out Up Cozina & Bar. We highly recommend it!
