Daddies, and Hustlers, and Bears … Oh My!

Friday and Saturday – 12AM – 6AM
Sunday – 10PM – 6AM
The name of the bar in Spanish means “wrong way” and maybe that should be taken as a sign … literally. Ask any native porteno and they will have a definite opinion to share. Some like it, some loathe it.
Mostly, they will advise you, as a visitor, to avoid it because of the taxi boys and pickpockets. However, if you like a bit of sleaze and are interested in stalking the wild Argentine bear in his natural habit, you will love Contramano. Sundays are the specific bear nights, but check any promotional flyer for a fiesta de oso.
Musically, Fridays at Contramano tend to be a mix of international and latin pop, while Saturdays focus on dance hits from the 70s and 80s.
The front bar can get packed, and the dance floor can get sweaty. There’s also a small upstairs area that can get both packed and sweaty.
Fun fact: Contramano opened in 1984 and is one of the oldest remaining gay bars in Argentina.
